  The South Carolina Arts Commission's state budget allocation for fiscal year 2012 (July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012) included a 6% reduction in base state funding to the Arts Commission (consistent with reductions to many other state agencies), and the loss of $250,000 in FY2011 one-time stimulus funds, for a total year-to-year reduction of 16% in state appropriations and a 55% cut since 2008. The South Carolina Legislature overrode a line-item veto by the governor which would have removed all funding for the Arts Commission in the FY12 state budget.
