The South Carolina Arts Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing, encouraging and supporting the art and artists of South Carolina.
One area on which the SCAF focuses its support is the South Carolina Arts Commission State Art Collection.
The Find Joy in Art card project supports the Nina Liu Fund for the South Carolina Arts Commission State Art Collection, an endowed fund which facilitates the purchase of work for the collection as well as maintenance and storage. Thanks to generous sponsorship from Michael W. Haga, Paul W. Holmes and Vida Miller, proceeds from the 2024 Find Joy in Art card project will supplement the Nina Liu Fund for the South Carolina Arts Commission State Art Collection.
The 2024 Find Joy in Art cards feature work by Bill Harris.
Bill is a master Catawba potter. He first learned to make Catawba Pottery in 1973 from his grandmother, renowned Catawba potter Georgia Harris. After stepping away from his role as chief of the Catawba Nation in 2023, Bill now works full-time making, teaching, and advocating for Catawba Pottery. An upcoming exhibition will feature his vessel “When Crows Talk, We Should Listen” as part of Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026, a national initiative led by Craft in America.
