About

Primary Contact: Jesse Siak, Education Programs Manager

South Carolina Children’s Theatre’s (SCCT) mission is to empower and inspire a new generation of changemakers through theatre.

SCCT has been a cornerstone of the Greenville arts community since its founding in 1987 and serves over 31,000 children and families annually through a combination of high-quality theatrical productions, year-round educational programming, and outreach initiatives. The organization produces 8-9 productions per season, offering engaging and diverse stories that appeal to multigenerational audiences. Through its Education programs, SCCT provides over 200 theatre education classes annually for over 2,500 students ages 2-18, including instruction in acting, musical theatre, improvisation, technical theatre, and playwriting. SCCT is also committed to accessibility, offering financial aid to low-income students to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent participation.

SCCT’s Theatre Outreach Partnerships (TOPs) program brings theatre residencies and educational experiences to Title I schools, medically fragile children, and students with autism and special needs. Community collaborations include partnerships like Camp Courage, Project Hope Foundation, YouthBASE, and Through Evely’s Eyes to serve children who may not otherwise have access to the arts.

In addition to fostering future theatre professionals, SCCT is a vital part of Greenville’s cultural landscape, attracting local and out-of-town audiences. The theatre’s productions, education programs, and outreach initiatives continue to evolve, reinforcing SCCT’s commitment to creativity, inclusion, and excellence in theatre arts for young people and their families.
