Artist Bio

Dr. Walter B. Curry, Jr. is an Orangeburg native, an award-winning author, and the founder of Renaissance Publications, an independent publishing house specializing in African American history, genealogy, and the literary and visual arts. He is the author of two award-winning family sagas exploring South Carolina history from slavery through the Reconstruction Era. As the Author-in-Residence at the Aiken Center for the Arts, Dr. Curry actively collaborates with local schools, bringing history to life for young minds through interactive lectures and historical exhibitions.
