Artist Bio
Brittney (Blue) Washington, MS, ATR is a registered art therapist, artist, and cultural organizer based in the South Carolina Lowcountry. She has provided trauma-informed art therapy in both community and clinical settings, including work with individuals experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC and those living with chronic pain here in the Lowcountry.
Blue integrates creativity with relational, person-centered approaches, supporting individuals in exploring identity, processing life experiences, building power, and making connection through art-making. Her work is grounded in the belief that creativity is a human capacity and a pathway toward voice, dignity, healing, and world-building. In 2021, Blue founded The Ferrette House (Walterboro, SC) as a creating and healing arts retreat for artists, culture workers, and organizers to further support the arts ecosystem.
Outside of her work, Blue enjoys tending to the land, creating art, and spending time with her teenage kiddo and dogs.
