Ballet Spartanburg’s mission is to enrich, engage and educate the Spartanburg community with the highest quality education, performance, and outreach. Ballet Spartanburg performs on stage with it’s Professional Company and students from the Center for Dance Education, presents lecture demonstrations to over 4000 students annually, collaborates with additional artists for new ballets, presents contemporary and classic ballets, teaches over 350 students ages 3-72 in its Center for Dance Education, reaches deep into the community to include new populations, new demographics, invest in diversity and to provide access to professional performing arts. Established in 1966, Ballet Spartanburg is deeply embedded in its community and surrounding communities. In 2018, Ballet Spartanburg was awarded the South Carolina Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Organization category and in 2023, Carlos Agudelo, Artistic Director, has been awarded the South Carolina Governor’s Award for Individual Artist.
