Veneshia Stribling is a Columbia, SC-based dance educator and guest artist with two decades of experience in South Carolina public schools, college marching band programs, and community arts settings. She is available statewide for single-day arts experiences, multi-day residencies, dance history lessons, arts integration programming, and performance-based coaching.
Her programming serves students at every level, from elementary classrooms exploring rhythm and movement for the first time, to middle and high school students deepening their technique and performance skills, and spans a wide range of styles and contexts:
Ms. Stribling holds a B.A. in Dance Education and an M.Ed. in Divergent Learning, both from Columbia College (SC). She has taught dance in SC public schools since 2005, served as Auxiliary Coordinator for the Fairfield Central High School Golden Griffin Marching Band, and coached the Allen University Golden Jackettes Danceline. She currently chairs the HBCU Dance Team Ad Hoc Committee for the SC Dance Association and has been recognized as SC Dance Association Educator of the Year, Region 11 Magnet Teacher of the Year, and SC Dance Association Arts Advocacy Award recipient.
All bookings are grant-eligible through the South Carolina Arts Commission roster. Ms. Stribling serves schools, arts councils, and grant-funded programs across all regions of South Carolina.
My work as a guest artist is built on one belief: every student deserves to experience dance as something that belongs to them.
When I visit a school, I bring movement traditions that are living, joyful, and rooted in American history and Southern performance culture. Whether I am leading a hip-hop or jazz experience for an elementary arts day, teaching the history and technique of majorette dance and baton twirling to a middle school class, or working with a high school auxiliary unit on their craft, I meet students where they are and take them somewhere new.
I specialize in the performance traditions passed down through generations of HBCU marching band culture: majorette, danceline, color guard, and baton, and I bring that expertise into schools as rigorous, joyful, and meaningful arts education. These traditions represent some of the most disciplined and expressive performance art in American history, and students light up when they encounter them.
My programming is adaptable, high-energy, and student-centered. I design every session to leave students more curious, more confident, and more connected to movement, regardless of their experience level or background.
