Artist Statement

Books are the treasured wealth of the world and the fit inheritance of generations and nations. – HENRY DAVID THOREAU

Creating art is a daily experience for me and is influenced by everything I see, everything I read, everything I experience, and everything I do. My goal is to live an artful life and to share my love of art, of nature, of beauty, and of knowledge with others.

As a young child my paternal grandmother taught me that knowledge isn’t knowledge unless it is shared. Growing up as an army brat instilled in me a love of travel, of experiencing new places and cultures, collecting natural and man-made objects and sharing what I have learned with others.

My love of knowledge has expanded into a collection of quotes and of books and my participation in three book clubs. One of my favorite quotes is “ No one has ever become poor by giving” by Anne Frank. This belief has led me to share my creative processes, my resources, my time, my energy and my financial resources with libraries, museums, musical and educational organizations, and most importantly…those most in need…those who need food, shelter and safety.

My creative process and my art include all of these processes and beliefs.
