• Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Awards

  Up to four artists and one advocate are recognized with the Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Award as practitioners and advocates of traditional arts significant to communities throughout the state. Their traditions embody folklife’s dynamic, multigenerational nature, and its fusion of artistic and utilitarian ideals.

Our friends and partners at McKissick Museum, who administer the Folk Heritage Awards, are in a period of transition right now. We of course wish them well, and are excited for them to return next year to join us in full celebration of the arts across South Carolina.

This year, the SCAC is excited to recognize and honor four recipients of the Governor’s Awards for the Arts:

• LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT: Campbell Frost, Columbia
• INDIVIDUAL: Diane Frankenberger, Summerville
• ARTS IN EDUCATION: Dr. Minuette Floyd, Columbia
• ORGANIZATION: South Carolina Philharmonic, Columbia

• How to watch

  South Carolina ETV, the state’s public educational broadcasting network, will broadcast the awards ceremony through its 11-station TV network that spans the state.

  Viewers can access the broadcast above and via:

  • livestream on SCETV.org.
  • by using a digital antenna attached to a television,
  • through cable or satellite providers,
  • and select streaming TV providers with a live TV option (check your subscription)
