About

Artist Bio

My name is Janette Marvin a muralist and painter. I grew up in Northeast Brazil and have a love for the coast. I have many years of experience working for decorators, designers, homeowners, hospitals, schools, and galleries. Most of my murals are very large and were painted under strict time constraints but my work also includes paintings of all sizes on canvas and many other surfaces.

I understand both budgetary constraints and the need for projects to be completed in a timely manner. For murals, I do several small painted sketches to be approved or changed before starting on the actual mural. I have many years of experience painting many different subjects but beach scenes are my favorite. Again, I’m always happy to discuss potential projects with you.

Thank You,

Cheers Janette

Artist Statement

During my years in college, I began painting murals and realized what a difference it made in a space. I knew then that bringing images of nature and adding cheerful colors to a room allows the occupants to rest their eyes on something peaceful and helps relieve stress. From that point on I continued to create not only large murals, but paintings on canvas. I use acrylic paint for the murals and mostly oils for canvas painting. One of my favorite hobbies is plein air painting as it requires the same skill set as painting murals – composition, speed, and accuracy. These are the three skills that I have had to practice the most over the 43 years of painting. The huge variety of subject matter in murals keeps me learning something new every year. I find great joy in observing the constantly changing light and colors in a landscape that are often used in my murals. My favorite thing to capture in a painting is light reflected through trees or traveling across a building. I also enjoy painting the ocean and all the of the surrounding nature as it reminds me of my childhood growing up in North East Brazil near the coast.
