Artist Bio

André “Mr. BounceBack” Amigér is Co-Founder of Responsible ARTistry, Inc and CEO of Responsible ARTistry Studios, a music production and sound engineering studio. Andre is a Washington DC Native and professional Music Producer, Sound Engineer for over 30 years, Certified Teaching Artist and a 3X Stroke Survivor.

André started his music career at a young age listening to Go-Go Music, a sub-genre extension of funk, heavy on bass and percussion. Creating Music and producing was an outlet that has turned into a career.

As the executive producer of several albums his compositions are heard worldwide. By choosing to impact the world with positive music he has worked with Macy’s Come Together Social Campaign and the Green Festival in cooperation with Green America and Global Exchange. By connecting with artists throughout the diaspora he is now producing culturally impactful music projects. He has cultivated his gifts into a genre he calls Indigenous Soul Music. He prides himself on now creating music that translates seamlessly for live instrumentation with bands.

Andre has produced over 16 projects including creation of the music composition for the (TCL) Technical College of the Lowcountry’s Alma Mater. He has worked on Gullah Music projects with Gullah Artists, Mahoganee, Tendaji and GwenYvette which can be found on all streaming platforms.

Andre and his wife Mahoganee, since 2006 are the founders of Responsible ARTistry, Inc., a non-profit organization powered by Certified Teaching Artists in the field of music redesigning education through creative arts programming that promotes leadership, enriches and enhances student learning in curated safe spaces. The organization hosts artist residencies, workshops and partners with like-minded community individuals, businesses and organizations to make a wider impact. Their programming includes curriculums that use music, lyrics and visual art to focus on land stewardship and environmental responsibility.

Andre enjoys mentoring young men as a means of paying it forward while giving back. As a Youth Advocate, Mr. Andre is a mentor to a community of youth as well as held the position of Youth Behavioral Specialist (Area Coach) for two of South Carolina’s highest ranking family service organizations. These positions allowed him the opportunity to become a strong community leader and positively impact the entire family. He trained and coached his staff on how to reach, restore and revitalize the family unit. Having been a troubled youth himself he speaks to the soul of the child in a way that many cannot. He has also co-authored an anthology “The Impact of Influence” Vol 2 which quickly became a #1 Best Seller in several categories. For more information visit andreamiger.com.

Artist Statement

Having a gift to create, specifically music is indeed a blessing but knowing that my gift is attached to my purpose makes it truly more meaningful. I am extremely intentional because it is my purpose and I am called to do the work as a Teaching Artist and because of my traumatic youth and being a 3X stroke survivor I understand the importance of the gift being presented to inspire my community. The value that we as quality Teaching Artists bring is uniquely important because we have a different perspective as those who live constantly in the creative space of life and are pioneers of unorthodox solutions.

My stroke gave me a beautiful gift in the box checked as a disability which in my opinion enhanced my creativity. Although I had this gift my entire life, because my brain had changed due to the strokes the gift called synesthesia now had a name. It also allowed me to be free because I now understood myself better and seeing students struggle because of not quite knowing themselves yet, I am more aware, empathetic and I believe more helpful to them and my entire community.

As a music producer, I’ve evolved into creating music that includes instrumentation from throughout the African diaspora to share our stories musically.

I’ve been working with other Gullah Geechee artists to create modern Gullah music because my music addresses the power of water, it harnesses the energy of the land, our ancestors and it honors my ancestors journey through “The Middle Passage”.
