There are three words that can be used to describe Emily Stumpf: joyful, curious, and diligent. She is committed to working with people and making her community a better place as an artist-citizen by sharing her joy and passion for the flute, art and music history, and music making. She graduated in May 2018 with a DMA in flute performance from the University of South Carolina and strives to uphold the institution’s motto emollit mores nec sinit esse feros, “learning humanizes character and does not permit it to be cruel.” She models this as a performer, learner herself, and in teaching duties as an Adjunct Professor and as a KinderFlute instructor, teaching her students the joys of music, to have courage, and to always be kind.
