Prentiss Standridge is an actor, teaching artist, and theatre creator from Greenville, SC.For the last four years, Prentiss has been a teaching artist with the Metropolitan Arts Council’s SmartArts Program.Through SmartArts, Prentiss collaborates with Greenville County teachers (K-12) to plan and implement an arts integration unit utilizing theatre as a tool to address academic standards and content.Previously, she served as a principal teaching artist with The Warehouse Theatre bringing Shakespeare to life with 3rd-12th grade students.She spent an academic school year as a teaching artist in New York City with many arts education organizations including Lincoln Center Education, and has also taught with The Guthrie Theater, the Peace Center for the Performing Arts, the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, and the University of Minnesota.As an actor, Prentiss has performed regionally with The Guthrie Theater, Park Square Theater, and with the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival in New York, and locally with The Warehouse Theatre and Lean Ensemble Theatre in HHI.She graduated from the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program and the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities.She is also a certified yoga instructor and avid yoga practitioner, and enjoys strong coffee, being outdoors, traveling to new places, great story-telling, discovering new music artists, and maintains an unshakable belief in empowering individuals and communities through art.
