The acclaimed Sigal Music Museum (SMM) is located at the Heritage Green cultural campus in downtown Greenville, SC. The museum, founded in 2017, is home to one of the world’s largest collections of significant historical instruments. SMM originated with the Carolina Clavier Collection, formerly the private collection of Thomas Strange includes over 40 pianos and harpsichords dating from 1570 to 1863. In 2019, the museum acquired the Marlowe A. Sigal Collection of nearly 700 culturally significant musical instruments, one of the largest private collections in the United States.

Our mission is to collect and preserve historical musical instruments, objects, and information, which engage and enrich people of all ages through exhibits, performances, and experiential programs.

Our vision is to be a leading center for preserving and celebrating historical musical instruments, objects, and information.
