Artist bio

My 30-year passion for clay started at San Jose State, California, then sojourned to Italy for two years. From there ceramic art education in public schools took me from OH, NJ, NC, and now to SC. Making, innovating, demonstrating, and sometimes selling have occupied my creative spirit.

Artist statement

“Artists paint the box normal people think in” has been my motto for some years. I was challenged by a well-suited dad who had resistance to sending his child to art school. He asked what do you get out of art school? He made me really think. After complimenting his silk tie, leather shoes, tailored suit, and designer watch, I told him the hands of artists dressed him well. The Arts serve and provide the needs of the society whether or not it is realized.
