Artist statement

Riquelle collaborates with organizations on developing and growing a team of dancers, competitive cheerleaders, and gymnastics. She believes in taking a “meet the group where they are and grow them to where they want to be” approach when developing a plan for each organization. Once the program is designed, she meets the organization and teaches concepts and fundamentals to the entire team. While teaching, she develops a daily regimen and introduces it to the organization leaders so that they understand dance, cheer, and gymnastics concepts and practices. She creates competition shows and helps the team understand performance expectations. As an artist-in-residence, Riquelle teaches all grade levels and performance levels. She teaches dance concepts and terminology, increases flexibility for students, and helps each student gain confidence.
