About

Kathy Perry received her Bachelor of Music Education degree at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and went on to teach orchestra in the Arizona public schools. During eight years of teaching students in elementary and junior high schools, followed by eight years of teaching at the high school level, her ensembles consistently received superior ratings in local and state festivals. She was active as an adjudicator for large ensemble and solo/ensemble festivals and served as guest conductor for many groups throughout the state.

Since moving to Anderson in 2005, she started the Anderson All County Orchestra in 2006 and served in Anderson School District One as director of strings at Wren Middle and High Schools for 6 years. Her top orchestra was selected to perform at the SCMEA Music Educators Conference February 5, 2010. For the past 8 years Kathy has been in Anderson School District Five teaching at Southwood Academy of the Arts as the director of high school orchestras. In February 2019 the top high school orchestra, Southwood Sinfonia from the Academy of the Arts, headed to the SCMEA Music Teachers Conference and performed in Columbia. She served as SC All State Orchestra chair (2011-2015) and as adjunct strings instructor at Erskine College for six years. She has conducted for the Orchestras in Region 2 and 3 in 2019 and for Greenville and ASTA ensembles in 2019 and 2020. She serves as concertmaster in both the GAMAC chamber orchestra and the Anderson Symphony Orchestra.
