Overview of Work: As an artist, Kami strives to create characters today’s students can both empathize with and laugh with. Although not everything she writes is humorous, Kami sees the need for humor in literature and in life and her work reflects this. Kami Kinard is the author of the humorous middle grade novels, THE BOY PROBLEM and THE BOY PROJECT, both from Scholastic. Her poetry, stories, articles, and essays have appeared in numerous periodicals for children and adults. A former public educator and Teacher of the Year, Kami remains dedicated to teaching. She continues to instruct through leading writing workshops at conferences and in schools and through mentoring emerging authors. Experienced in working with students from kindergarten through high school, Kami offers multiple programs for students, and can tailor presentations and instruction to curriculum needs.
