About

A native of the former West Germany, book artist and writer Sigrid Hice immigrated to North Carolina 44 years ago. She is a roster member of the Mountain Arts Program, the Palmetto State Arts Education program, the Durham Arts Council’s CAPS program, and the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg. For more than two decades, Sigrid has worked as a teaching artist in schools in North and South Carolina. She also has taught numerous artist book workshops for organizations and institutions throughout the region. Some of her prose, poetry, and photography have been published in magazines and journals, such as 4-H Leader, Junior Trails, My Friend, Charlotte Viewpoint, Art Calendar, Branches, and Macaroni Kid. A selection of her artist books has been on exhibit in various places, such as the Reynolds Gallery at Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, at Davidson County Community College in Lexington, NC, and Edgewood Cottage in Blowing Rock. Sigrid has received many grants and scholarships from the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg and the United Arts Council of Catawba County for weeklong school residencies.
