Since childhood, Petra Manning Brooks has experimented with many art mediums; including clay sculpture, mixed media collages, resin beading, silver clay, sewing (to name a few) until she finally found her true passion in creating stained glass art. Under the instruction of famous stained glass artist, Samuel Hodge (from Detroit), Petra excelled and became Samuel’s “star protégé”; eventually being invited to teach the class that introduced her to Stained Glass.
While still building her corporate career, Petra started teaching Stained Glass and Mosaic Stained Glass at Spartanburg Art School (Chapman Cultural Center)in Spartanburg, SC and Tryon Arts and Crafts in Tryon, NC. She has also used the majority of her vacation day’s each year to teach at elementary schools in Artist in Residence Programs. Petra also creates commissioned pieces for private clients, churches, and various corporations.
