Artist bio

Jung Bennett developed a passion for music at a young age and has been immersed in music education and performance for the last 15 years. Her expertise is in cello and piano. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, with a masters in cello performance, Bennett worked for seven years at a public charter school (K-12). During her tenure she served as a music teacher, strings instructor, and Chinese drum coach. After leaving the public school she started Chapin Music with a mission is to provide personalized music lessons for all ages, abilities, and styles. Through Chapin Music, she provides piano and cello lessons from her home studio or students homes, and has also partnered with the local recreation center to provide music lessons for the community. She also performs at live performances and has played concerts for Josh Groban, Michael Bublé, the Trans Siberian Orchestra, and others.

Artist statement

Jung Bennett was born in Taiwan, where she studied Chinese music for over 10 years. in 2012, she came to America to expand her repertoire. Bennett has taught students from age 4 to 62 in strings, piano and Chinese drums. Mrs. Bennett believes music is for everyone, of all ages, abilities, and styles. Mrs. Bennett loves sharing her passion and enjoys teachings with public school students. Her genuine love for kids makes her a well sought after music educator. Mrs. Bennett believes that the most important part of teaching is ensuring that student’s have a desire to learn. When a student has a passion for the subject, they are much more likely to practice outside of the classroom and continue learning on their own. For this reason, Mrs. Bennett takes a personal approach to creating lesson plans based on the individual’s goals and interests, while still focusing on fundamentals. She provides consistent feedback to ensure her students are always progressing in the direction they want. She also encourages her student to explore different genres and develop new interests. She strives to ensure her students are enjoying their journey in music education and reaching their goals.
