#SCartists in action

You might have come to this website for grant information, but here’s hoping you’ll linger a bit to enjoy some works by contemporary South Carolina artists.

The State Art Collection

Established in 1967, it is considered the most comprehensive public collection of works by contemporary South Carolina artists. The SCAC is working to develop an online exhibition of the collection, which is one of its oldest programs. For now, you can browse listings of included artists and works and more.

Artist Development Programs

The SCAC’s strategic plan outlines specific steps to help #SCartists develop as both artists and, when they desire, entrepreneurs. To that end, three official Artist Development programs provide either grant funding or mentorship/networking opportunities… or both. On the pages for those programs below, current grantees and their works are showcased.

Community Arts Development

Finding new ways to strategically use arts and culture in community development, The Art of Community: Rural SC initiative of the S.C. Arts Commission found a way to practice what it preaches with the creation of a series of posters that began in March 2020, at the onset of the pandemic.
