First Citizens Bank
2008 Recipient for Business
As the second largest bank in the state, First Citizens Bank recognizes the importance of making art accessible to all South Carolinians. Through its support of ballet, music and theater performances, residents throughout the state have been able to enjoy the talents of local artists performing in local venues, many for the first time.
Another way the bank demonstrates its allegiance to the arts is by supporting artists and arts organizations in cities and towns throughout its footprint. In 2007, the bank donated nearly $115,000 to 32 visual and performing arts groups. Specific examples include the bank's investment in public art projects coordinated by the Aiken Center for the Arts for the city of Dillon, and the production of a pocket calendar that displays the original art of an emerging Greenwood artist. The later effort created so much demand that the calendars were printed a second time.
In addition, the bank offers space in its headquarters and local branches for professional and amateur artists to display artwork. Supporting First Citizens Bank's commitment to the arts, many associates and executives donate their time and resources to the arts community by serving on arts boards, fundraising committees and on special projects.
