COLUMBIA, S.C. –Educators and others interested in meeting artists who can use poetry to teach science to seventh-graders or music to teach math to kinetic learners, are invited to attend the S.C. Arts in Education Booking Conference from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Oct. 21 in Columbia. Registration forms are available until Oct. 10.
The conference takes place at the Columbia Conference Center, located at 169 Laurelhurst Avenue. It offers schools and organizations interested in weaving the arts into traditional education programs the opportunity to see more than 100 teaching artists from all disciplines—visual and performing arts, crafts, media, literature and storytelling to name a few.
Attendees can stroll from booth to booth to meet artists showcasing their work samples and demonstrating their ability to use the arts to enhance student learning. Many artists come prepared with lesson plans designed to meet the S.C. Department of Education's curriculum standards.
