Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest fulfills the following state curriculum standards.
I. Language Arts
Understanding and Using Literary Texts
English 1-4::

Interpret/Analyze/Evaluate devices of figurative language (including extended metaphor, oxymoron, pun, and paradox). E1, 2, 3, 4 - 1.3

II. Visual and Performing Arts: Theatre
