S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative
Here's the latest news:
We have a new name! S.C. Artists LINC is now S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative. The national LINC organization requested that we develop a separate name because they plan to sunset the LINC name in two years. Artists' Ventures implies that it's your program, because it is!

S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative: goals and activities
S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative, a broad-reaching project at the Arts Commission, is dedicated to improving conditions for S.C. artists by helping them develop the knowledge and skills to build satisfying, sustainable careers. Responding to input from artists across the state about their key concerns, the Arts Commission is offering the following activities:
- Artist gatherings
Beginning with the statewide, all-discipline artist retreat that took place in May 2009, the Artists' Ventures Initiative is providing artists with information they can use in their personal lives, communities, and businesses. Additional retreats and other gatherings may be planned depending upon artist feedback. - Business training
The Artists' Ventures Initiative is connecting artists to affordable training that supports their development as entrepreneurs and profitable business people. - Start-up support for new arts-based businesses
Through a new competitive grant program and virtual business incubator, the Artists' Ventures Initiative is supporting artists with sound plans for starting new arts-based businesses.
S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative is funded by a major grant from Leveraging Investments in Creativity (LINC), a national initiative that works to improve conditions for artists, enabling them to more readily do their creative work and contribute to community life. As a part of this national initiative, the Arts Commission is drawing from and contributing to the research, resources, and tools being forged by the national network.
