E-News from the SC Arts Commission
1/19/2006 - Special Edition
Hello everyone -
We're rolling out this special edition of the e-newsletter for an important announcement: the South Carolina Arts Commission is offering free workshops Feb. 12-16. Each workshop includes two sessions: Session I: an introduction to the new Online South Carolina Arts Resources (OSCAR) application system for arts organizations and arts providers; Session II: a preview of the new Statewide Arts Participation Initiative for organizations, individual artists and arts programmers.
Workshops are being held in five locations across the state.
Who should attend?
Arts organizations and arts providers who intend to apply for a long term or annual operating support grant this year should attend the OSCAR training. Organizations, individual artists and arts programmers are encouraged to attend the second session of the workshop on the new Statewide Arts Participation Initiative.
Session I: OSCAR training
The first session of the workshop covers the new Online South Carolina Arts Resources (OSCAR) application system. Organizations that plan to apply for general operating support will be introduced to the major components and processes of the new OSCAR system. Current general operating support grantees will also find out how to access and utilize existing application data.
Organizations who have submitted an online application in the past are strongly encouraged to attend an OSCAR training session. Registration and password access information has changed from the previous online application system, so attendance at an OSCAR training session is highly recommended. The workshop will provide instructions for initial registration and accessing existing information.
Access to OSCAR will be available mid-February. However, general operating support program guidelines are available now.
Session II: Statewide Arts Participation Initiative
The second half of the workshop introduces the new Statewide Arts Participation Initiative. Organizations, individual artists, and arts programmers will learn about a series of arts participation seminars to be offered in April and a subsequent competitive grant process. More information on the new Statewide Arts Participation Initiative and grant guidelines will be available on the Arts Commission web site by February 1.
No charge, no need to register
You may attend either the OSCAR training session or the Participation Initiative session, or both. There is no charge to attend either session, and pre-registration is not required. Five workshops are offered across the state; however, you should attend only one workshop.
