FY2013 Artists' Ventures Initiative (AVI) Grant Awards

Purpose

S.C. Artists' Ventures Initiative is a broad-reaching project that is dedicated to improving conditions for South Carolina artists by helping them develop the knowledge and skills to build satisfying, sustainable careers. View the current guidelines >>>

 

All SCAC grant awards are contingent upon availability of funds, submission and approval of final reports, and compliance with program grant guidelines. Additional grants are awarded throughout the year.

 

Note to grantees: Notification of your award is provided through posting on this website, which you may consider official confirmation of your award until contract paperwork is issued. Contracts are issued throughout the year, with paperwork for full-year grants (July 1 to June 30) generally mailed in fall of the award year. If you need an award letter before it arrives with your contract paperwork, please contact your coordinator.

 

Grantee Discipline County Award  
Amanda Ladymon-Stockard Visual Arts Lexington $5,000  

Project: Facility construction, maintenance and renovation

Ladybug Art Studios is a home-based personal art studio and educational facility. Ladymon-Stockard will use grant funds to complete construction on the Back Studio to make it safer and accessible. The remaining funds will be used for marketing, workshop supplies and participation fees for festivals and events.

         
Beth Melton Visual Arts York $5,000  

Project: Art instruction

Melton is an award-winning fiber artist and educator. She will use grant funds to market classes for her Follow the Thread Fiber Studio, including creating a stand-alone website. Additional funds will go toward space rental and utilities.

         
Quintin Middleton Visual Arts Berkeley $5,000  

Project: Facility construction and renovation

Middleton Made Knives creates custom knives for the home chef. Middleton will use grant funds to expand his current work facility. He will use the remaining funds to purchase equipment.

         
Kimi Maeda Theatre Richland $5,000  

Project: Theatrical production

Belle et Bete produces and promotes art and puppetry that challenge expectations and promote analytical thinking. Maeda will use grant funds to produce Space Adventure Puppet Musical with her partner, Lyon Forrest Hill. Additional funds will go toward touring costs.
