Originally from Hammond, Ind., Howard Kingkade received his bachelor’s degree in theatre at Indiana University, and his Master of Fine Arts degree in theatre at the University of South Carolina. He currently teaches English, theatre and speech at the University of South Carolina/Lancaster. In addition to the “We the People” grant that he received from the South Carolina Humanities Council in 2005, Kingkade has won or placed in numerous screenwriting and playwriting competitions.
In 2006, Kingkade wrote and directed the short film “A Bedtime Story for the End of the World,” which was an official selection of both the 2006 Southern Fried Film Festival in Augusta, Ga., and the Estes Park Film Festival in Estates Park, Colo. He is a member of Screen Actors Guild of America, the National Council of Teachers of English and the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers.
