SC Arts Commission 2015 Prose Fellow

Scott Gould

 

Scott Gould lives in Greenville and chairs the Creative Writing Department at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Gould’s poetry, fiction and nonfiction have been published in numerous magazines and anthologies including Kenyon Review, New Madrid Journal, Carolina Quarterly, New Stories from the South and New Southern Harmonies. His awards include a Surdna Arts Teacher Fellowship for study in Italy and a Fiction Fellowship from the S.C. Academy of Authors. In 2010, he was awarded the Ovation Inspired Teaching Award from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers for the second time, and was named the Literary Arts Educator of the Year by YoungArts/ NFAA. Gould previously received a Prose Fellowship from the S.C. Arts Commission in 1991.

 

Gould received a BA in English from Wofford College, an MA in English from USC, and an MFA from the Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. He has taught creative writing at Presbyterian College, at Furman University and at The Fine Arts Center with Greenville County Schools.
